What's New - News

NJ Foundation for the Blind and Mark Wood of Wood’nDrums are co-hosting the North Jersey Drum & Dance event on Saturday, November 26th, from 8 to 11 PM at NJFFB at 230 Diamond Spring Road in Denville.  The cost is $12 per person.  Children under 12 are free.  Light snacks are included.

There are a limited number of djembes available for use, but they must be reserved in advance by emailing woodndrums@yahoo.com.  Guests may also bring their own hand drums or other percussion instruments.

Community drum circles are part of the powerful mosaic of healing arts that promote community as well as physical and mental well-being.  Young and old, families, couples, singles, able-bodied and differently-abled, together create joyful rhythms and that bring people to their feet in a community dance.

Mark’s work with NJFFB students creates a sense of unity, lifts their spirits, and promote healing and self-expression through drumming. Learn more about Mark at www.woodndrums.com

Community Drum Circles Build Unity and Joy of Life

A community drum circle is a fun, multicultural, mixed level, group music-making event. The music is created on the spot, in the moment. There is no 'audience'; everyone is welcome to play, dance, or listen as the mood strikes them. Some people will choose to dance in the middle of the circle, so that the drumming is part of a larger social event. Current research verifies the therapeutic effects of ancient rhythm techniques. It indicates drumming accelerates physical healing, boosts the immune system and produces feelings of well-being, a release of emotional trauma, and reintegration of self.
