NJFFB is continuing to geographically expand its popular Health & Wellness Program for the Blind and Visually Impaired with the opening this month of a new site in Ridgewood, Bergen County. Sixteen individuals will attend the program which includes stimulating mind-body activities that promote mental and physical health, and a peer support group to meet others who share similar challenges. “Everyone enjoys the classes and participates at their own pace,” says Linda Groszew, student services coordinator for NJFFB. The sessions include Yoga, Horticultural Therapy, T’ai Chi Chih, Peer Group and Healing through Drumming. “It’s an energizing day when you can spend time with others and build your physical and emotional strength at the same time.” The Old Paramus Reformed Church just off Route 17 South is the new location, and most importantly, it is accessible using Access Link. For participants who use family transportation, Ridgewood is centrally located in the county to make it a convenient drive. The Parish Hall and restrooms are wheelchair accessible.
