Registration has opened for the summer session of the popular Health and Wellness for the Vision Impaired conducted by NJ Foundation for the Blind. Individuals interested in attending the 5-week program are urged to register now for either or both locations. The Denville session will run consecutive Thursdays, starting July 14; and the Montclair session will run consecutive Fridays, starting July 15 from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM. The program is designed to provide a holistic approach to living with vision loss. Therapeutic courses combined with opportunities to meet others who are facing similar challenges can improve quality of life by providing physical activity, mental stimulation and socialization. Classes consist of Yoga, Horticultural Therapy, Healing through Drumming, T’ai Chi Chih, and a Peer Support session. The classes are accessible to people with vision loss, and can be adapted to meet the needs of individuals with additional disabilities or health conditions. Instructors have received additional training to provide specialized instruction to individuals who are blind and visually impaired. All participants receive a reduced fee due to the generosity of our individual supporters, NJ Lions Clubs and Novo Nordisk. For more information or to register, call Linda Groszew at 973-627-0055, Ext. 312 or e-mail lgroszew@njffb.org. |
