In addition to running programs on site, NJFFB will be offering a Health & Wellness Program designed for people who are blind or vision impaired at the First Lutheran Church on Park Street in Montclair. The program will run for ten sessions starting Friday, January 14, from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Each session will include Yoga, Tai Chi, Horticultural Therapy, Healing through Drumming, and a professionally-led support Group. Program Director David Feinhals explains that people who are severely impaired vision have a critical need for mental and physical activity to fend off the isolation that typically accompanies vision loss. "The special activities in our health and wellness program also help reinforce other senses that are needed to balance the loss of sight," said Feinhals. Montclair was chosen as the first site for this community-based program because of its proximity to bus and train routes. "Participants can connect with others from different communities and share new resources and adaptive solutions," states Feinhals. The fee for the 10 sessions, made up of fifty separate classes, is $200. A limited number of scholarships are available for this winter session.
