Programs

ProgramsOur programs provide the emotional support and practical training necessary for adults who become blind or visually impaired to return to a full and meaningful life.  We have several different program options that have been crafted to meet the unique needs and interests of each individual that we serve.

Our Essential Low Vision Program provides immediate assistance to people who have recently experienced a loss of some or all of their vision. Participants and their family members will learn about the myriad of products, services and resources that exist to help people maintain their independence.

The Comprehensive Core Program is the perfect "next step" in the journey of life after vision loss for those individuals who require extensive training in order to accomplish their goals.  This program provides thirteen days of training over thirteen weeks in the areas of assistive technology, orientation & mobility, adaptive kitchen skills and simple solutions for activities of daily living.

Our weekly Health & Wellness Program has been designed to provide a holistic approach to living with vision loss.  Each program is comprised of courses such as Yoga, Tai Chi Chih, Healing through Drumming, Horticultural Therapy and Peer Support Group, all of which are made accessible to people with vision loss and can easily be adapted to meet the needs of individuals with additional disabilities or health conditions.  Participants will connect with others living with vision loss and learn about resources and adaptive solutions to the challenges they face.

We understand that many people who would like to attend one of the above programs may not be able to do so. This is the primary reason that we have developed our Professional Development Program. By training large groups of nurses, social workers, and physical, occupational and recreational therapists to understand blindness and low vision we are ensuring a better quality of care and assistance for the people they serve.
