To combat the isolation that so often accompanies vision loss and to enable more individuals to attend our programs, we have begun to provide long-term, community-based Health & Wellness Programs for the Blind and Visually Impaired. The Health & Wellness Program consists of: Yoga, Horticultural Therapy, Healing through Drumming, T’ai Chi Chih, and Peer Support Group. These courses, which have been integral components of our Morris County-based program for many years, provide a holistic approach to living with vision loss. Not only are the courses accessible to people with vision loss, they can also be adapted to meet the needs of individuals with additional disabilities or health conditions. Our instructors are certified in their respective areas of expertise and have received additional training to provide specialized instruction to individuals who are blind and visually impaired. This program enables adults to truly participate in group classes that focus on health and well-being. Participants will connect with others living with vision loss and learn about resources and adaptive solutions to the challenges they face. The Health & Wellness Program is currently offered at locations in Morris, Bergen and Essex Counties, and over the next several years we will expand this program into other counties throughout northern New Jersey.
